Marcus Hale
Independent Agent Contributing Editor, InsuranceAI.Tools 📍 Columbus, OH ✉ marcus@insuranceai.tools Licensed P&C + Life/Health |
Marcus Hale spent nine years as a captive agent at a regional Midwest carrier — good book of business, frustrating technology, and a management team that kept promising upgrades that never came. He left in 2019. Going independent meant rebuilding from scratch: new AMS, new carrier relationships, new workflows. He started automating early out of necessity — not because he was a tech person, but because he was one person trying to do the work of three. When AI tools started becoming practical enough for everyday agency use, Marcus tested them the same way he tests anything: he tried them on real work, tracked whether they saved time, and kept the ones that did. He writes about those tools at InsuranceAI.Tools — specifically what they’re good for, what they’re not, and how an independent agent (not a tech team) can actually put them to work. He’s licensed in five states, books around $800K in annual premium, and runs his shop primarily remote out of Columbus, Ohio. He’s been in the industry long enough to be skeptical of most things — and specific about the ones that aren’t. |
Why I Started This Site
The honest version.
The problem I kept running intoWhen I started looking into AI tools for my agency, most of what I found online was written by people who had never run an agency. It was all generic productivity advice dressed up with insurance keywords. The few resources that were actually relevant were either buried in forums, locked behind expensive courses, or outdated by six months. AI tools move fast. A review from 2023 is basically historical fiction at this point. |
What this site actually isInsuranceAI.Tools is a resource I wish had existed when I started. Every tool reviewed here has been tested in a working agency context. Every workflow has been run on real clients, real quotes, real renewals. I’m not trying to cover every AI tool that exists. I’m covering the ones that are actually useful for insurance agents — and being direct about the ones that aren’t worth your time. |
A note on affiliate links
This site has affiliate relationships with some of the tools covered here, including GoHighLevel. If you buy through one of those links, I earn a commission. I only recommend tools I’ve actually used and found worth recommending — but you should know that relationship exists. Every affiliate link on this site is disclosed.
